# 通用文献类型

EndNote 新建文献时，如果没有相应的文献类型，也可以使用通用文献类型。通用文献类型的重要作用在于是其他文献类型的指南

EndNote 很多地方都会用到通用文献类型的栏目，如排序和搜索等等。使用通用文献类型的好处在于可以把不同文献类型之间的栏目差异统一起来，不同的文献类型栏目可能不一样，但是与之通用文献类型栏目就是固定的。例如通用类文献的「Author」，在其他不同类文献中可能代表「Artist」「Reporter」和「Cartographer」

### 输出格式使用通用文献类型

虽然通用文献类型极少用于数据输入，但是在格式化参考文献时的作用很大。另外输出格式的格式化的通用文献类型和通用模板可以用于格式化未定义的任何文献类型
