# 6. 输出格式

**输出格式 ( Output Style )**(或格式 style) 其实就是每个杂志要求的引文和参考文献格式，即在论文中的引文和参考文献格式。每个期刊的输出格式都不一样，其参考文献格式也不一样。可以把输出格式想像成 EndNote 为每个期刊处理每个文献的模板。例如芝加哥格式要求是这样的：Argus, Michele V., and Edward K.，而自然杂志的输出格式却是这样的：1. Argus, M. V.

EndNote 有4500多种输出格式，但是在 EndNote 安装文件夹中存储了最知名杂志的一些格式，可以通过[安装输出格式](https://app.gitbook.com/s/21InstallingEndNote/Installing_AdditionalOStyles.htm)的方法增加更多的期刊格式。

格式的名称反应了期刊或者出版社的要求，如 Nature style 就是根据自然杂志的要求的一种格式，Chicago style 是根据芝加哥格式手册的一种格式。导出格式或者导入格式，如 RIS，不同于输出格式，而是导出EndNote数据时转换成另外一种数据库要求的处理方法

查看当前EndNote可用格式可依次打开Edit >> Open Style Manager，这里显示的是当前 EndNote 可用的一些格式。用户可以根据需要调整格式或者建立新格式。

* 格式可以在EndNote网站或者期刊主页下载，也可以编辑
* 格式管理器( Style Manager )可以查看已安装格式。格式的下拉菜单中保存了一些经常用的格式
